From "Matcha Land" Japan, Kogetsuen brings matcha to the world.

The "Japanese Samurai Mark" is the symbol of Kougetsuen's Japanese matcha in the global market.

The mounted warrior in the center is modeled after the statue of Kusunoki Masashige located in the Outer Gardens of the Imperial Palace.

This statue was cast using copper from the Besshi Copper Mine to commemorate its 200th anniversary and was presented to the Imperial Household.

"JAPANESE SAMURAI" and "Japan is Matcha Land" are registered trademarks of Kougetsuen.

Our corporate philosophy is encapsulated in a traditional Japanese poem (Tanka):
"A single bowl of matcha unites people's hearts, serving as a green bridge to build peace."

Since our founding—after the original founder repatriated from the battlefields of China—Kogetsuen has upheld the belief that "tea is the lubricant that brings people together."

The founder's sentiment remains unchanged to this day, passed down continuously as our unwavering philosophy: "Tea, People, and Peace."

History

  • In 1979

    Spun off from the main Kougetsuen store in Shikoku Chuo City and opened a new store for green tea and tea utensils in Niihama City.

  • In 2004

    Launched domestic e-commerce operations in Japan.

  • In 2015

    We have launched global sales of matcha and expanded our business worldwide.
